Upcott operated as a Christian youth work charity for over 50 years, primarily in a residential environment. The vision was “to provide an environment where young people can experience the fullness of Jesus in their lives”. You can read more about this period on our history page.
In 2018, the Trustees decided the sell the existing property which led to an exciting period of discovering God’s current plan for Upcott. We believe this period is now complete and our current vision is expressed below.
Our Vision
We believe that God has said to us that Upcott is an expression of His heart for His Body, involving all who have input into this generation of young people. This involves, amongst other things, discipling young people to maturity in Jesus to help lead the Body of Christ in their generation.
Our Values
We want everyone involved with Upcott to encounter the fullness of God’s character and deeds, that is the glory of God.
And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18
We want everyone who is part of Upcott to live with an ever-increasing awareness of the presence of the Holy Spirit in their spirit and to see His influence flood through their lives and out to everyone around them.
He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.
John 7:38
We want everyone involved with Upcott to experience the reality of Jesus living in and through them.
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Galatians 2:20
We want everyone involved with Upcott to know who God created them to be, enabling them to walk in the good things God’s got planned for them.
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10
We want the hallmark of anyone involved with Upcott to be that they an intimate friend of Jesus.
I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
John 15:15
We want Upcott to be a place where people recognise and practise their role in the Body of Christ.
Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant – not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
2 Corinthians 3:5-6
We want Upcott to fully play its part in the Body of Christ through partnerships that God has provided.
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:3-6
