For the first fifty years, Upcott’s work was centred around a property that young people could come to and experience the love, presence and power of God.
Since the sale of the property a few years ago, the ministry of Upcott has been in a period of significant transition. The majority of the ministry now involves developing young leaders, mentoring and partnerships with churches and others.
During this period, we have continued to run Upcott weeks online (during COVID), hybrid events in Bristol and full residentials in Chepstow. The changing shape of the work and the lower numbers on the Upcott Weeks mean we are working out what residentials will look like in the future.
We have not planned any residential weeks for 2023, however, we do not believe it is right to shut the door on Upcott Weeks completely. Therefore, if you are interested in coming on an Upcott Week please get in touch to register your interest and we will let you know what will be happening as soon as we can.
We are also open to helping churches run their own residential weeks/weekends.
When we do run a residential week they are deliberately small (average group size is 25) to enable relationships that are open, deep and long lasting. The weeks have a mixture of biblical teaching, worship and prayer as well as games, activities and time to spend with the other young people and leaders.
In the recent past we have run weeks for various age ranges. Below is a brief description of each to give a flavour of what we might offer.
Overflow – Ages 9-12
The primary aim for this age is to enable you to develop intimacy in your relationship with Jesus. There will be lots of time to meet with God and grow in your relationship with him. As always there will be an action packed programme of games and activities mixed with worship, prayer and teaching as we spend time with Jesus together.
Involve – Ages 13-15
The aim for this age range is to begin the journey to independence in your walk with Jesus, and have the opportunity to explore the gifts of the Spirit and the abilities that God has given you. The programme has been constructed to create space to pursue God together through worship, prayer, teaching and ministry. There will be plenty of time to chill out and play games.
Ignite – Ages 16-20
At this point in your walk with Jesus we are looking for disciples who are discipling others, developing their gifts and sphere of influence, and serving in the Body of Christ. Expect to meet with God this week by being fully engaged. Discover God’s best for your life through seeking Him together in times of worship, prayer, teaching, and discussions. There will also be time to relax with your friends.
